The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals set out a shared plan to fight inequality and injustice and to protect the planet. Alassia aligns its operations with six of the goals, not as aspiration but as practice: each mapping below points to something we already do and, in most cases, something that is externally audited.
Quality Education
We train continuously, ashore and afloat: seafarer development programmes, self-improvement seminars for shore staff, and the annual Officers' Conference. Beyond our own people, we take shipping into classrooms through educational initiatives and career events for students considering a life at sea or ashore.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Employment on our vessels meets MLC and STCW requirements as a floor, not a target: modern accommodation, gyms, welfare programmes and open ship-to-shore communication. Ashore, we are an accredited Great Place to Work. A loyal crew pool is the proof this approach works.
Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
A modern fleet renewed continuously, with scrubbers, energy saving devices and EGR-equipped engines on recent newbuildings. We apply foundational AI to fleet operations alongside industry leaders, and trial performance technologies in cooperation with our charterers.
Climate Action
Our energy management system is accredited to ISO 50001. We optimise voyages, monitor emissions across the fleet, completed our first B24 biofuel voyage with Cargill in Singapore, and share long term emission reduction goals with the major charterers who employ our vessels.
Life Below Water
Our environmental policy targets zero spills and zero environmental incidents, under an ISO 14001 accredited management system. Vessels are maintained to and beyond regulatory and class requirements, because protection of the sea starts with the condition of the ship.
Partnerships for the Goals
Long term relationships are our operating model: with charterers who share our standards, and with the industry bodies advancing seafarer welfare, as a signatory of the Neptune Declaration and a member of ISWAN.
Our management systems behind these commitments are described under HSQE & Certifications; annual performance is published in our Sustainability Reports.
